Asveja Regional Park was established to preserve the landscape of the Asveja lake area, the natural and cultural values of the forested surroundings: Dubingiai urban complex with a castle, barrows, ethnographic homesteads. The area of Asveja Regional Park is 12208 ha.
The Dubingiai bridge across Lake Asveja is one of the few remaining wooden bridges in Lithuania. It was built thanks to the President of the Republic of Lithuania Antanas Smetona in 1934.
Dubingiai region is characterized by an old, unique, interesting history and culture. Dubingiai Castle is a 22-hectare peninsula that used to be an island. In the castle site, after archaeological research stretching from the 15th – 17th centuries other historical sites such as the Radvilas Palace of the Lithuanian princes and evangelical reformed church were discovered. The Radvilas cemetery was established on the site of the former church, where in 2009 Mikalojus Radvila Juodasis with his wife, Mikalojus Radvila Rudasis and others were reburied. Since 2012, preserved fragments of the Radvilas Palace, covered with a hood,(need a better word here) await visitors.
